Best Top 5 PC Games of 2017
Just as a disclaimer, so no one gets their panties in an uproar, this article is simply based upon my own opinions and the games I am most looking forward to playing next year. There will certainly be some that are included, many that are left out (it’s only five games anyway; we can’t fit everything on here), but these are the PC games that have had me checking my calendar ever since they were announced.
Also, even though this list is mainly for PC games that are highly anticipated, some of them will also be available in console formats as well. I felt I should throw that in there as well to avoid the wrath of any hardcore PCers that look down upon the rest of us weaklings. So, with the disclaimers out of the way and without further ado, here are my five most anticipated PC games coming in 2017.
1. Divinity: Original Sin 2
Of everything to be excited about in 2017, there isn’t much that I am looking forward to than the upcoming RPG Original Sin 2. This is expected to be one of the most detailed, in-depth gaming experiences in a long time from a story standpoint. The developers have stated they are putting an even larger emphasis on the writing and the dialogue with a team of eight well-respected writers on board. The reason for such a large team is due to the way Original Sin 2 will play out its dialogue based on your character’s individual traits and race. An overhaul to the combat system will also ensure plenty of great action along with the story.
2. The Fall 2: Unbound
Over the Moon Games’ The Fall created a whole new perspective on gaming that many had never even thought of. In it, you play the role of ARID, the artificial intelligence system built into a futuristic combat suit. The Fall 2 is set to pick up on where the original left off but promises a lot of new things to discover. This side-scrolling psychological puzzle thriller about an artificial brain is set to get many more gamers thinking about the meaning of consciousness.
3. Nier: Automata
I’ll be honest, I didn’t care for Nier at first. It’s an action RPG with a subtle story and sub-par combat. But for some reason, it’s irresistible. One of the most interesting aspects of the game are were the small changes in story on each playthrough based upon your character’s perspective. This sequel/reboot is set to be a more polished version that will have better gameplay but the same subtleties that made the original a cult favorite.
4. Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord
Another sequel to an understatedly great game is Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord. The original wasn’t the most polished in terms of what is expected from a traditional game, but it provided great storytelling and total freedom on a huge scale to go along with the systems-driven gameplay. Bannerlord is set to offer similar play along with storyline and tons of technical and visual upgrades.
5. For Honor
This is what I had in mind when I mentioned console games on the list. Of course it will be available on PC, but it is also expected to achieve large-scale mainstream sales on Xbox One and PS4 as well. It provides a unique type of four on four multiplayer fighting using your choice of Medieval knights, Samurais and Vikings. Need I say more?
